Fitness Move of The Week: Squats

Squats are wonderful for toning the legs and here are some tips on how to get one done!

Muscles Worked:
Quadriceps, Hamstrings, Gluteals, Hip Flexors

Proper Execution of the Exercise:

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart

Inhale and keeping your back straight and chest up, sit back as if you are sitting in a chair

Make sure your knees do not move beyond the top of your feet and your rear does not dip lower than the knees

Exhale and stand up

*Looking in the mirror sideways is incredibly helpful when checking your form in a squat.  If you feel that you are not ready to complete a regular squat, try doing one off of a wall with a Swiss ball in the small of your back.

For added difficulty:
Add dumbbells in your hand
Use a weight bar
Test your balance with single-leg squats
Learn how to do split squats
