American Heart Health Month

February is Heart Health Month and today specifically, is National Wear Red Day to commemorate the month-long heart health awareness.  If the simple STATS above about heart disease aren’t scary enough, then ask around in your family or group of friends and see how many people you know that have personally suffered because of this common disease.

There is a silver lining…you can adopt a healthier diet (think 3-4 daily servings of whole grains, 2 of healthier fats like avocado, olives, raw nuts and seeds, fruit, 2-3 of lean meat servings, & unlimited leafy greens, and 5-6 servings of other colorful veggies,) exercise more (no less than 4-5 days per week or less than 25 minutes per day,) and keep your cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar in-check to decrease your odds of suffering from <3 disease.

You can pursue through the APL website for heart-healthy recipes, daily workouts, and more healthy living tips to keep your heart strong!
